Login-throttle bypass via check-then-count race
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
A login-throttling race in Wazuh manager before 4.14.8 allows remote attackers to exceed password-guessing limits via concurrent API requests. The check_blocked_ip function checks the source IP before asynchronous credential validation, while prevent_bruteforce_attack counts failures afterward, leaving concurrent attempts unreserved. Exploitation requires network access to the authenticate or run_as login endpoint; account access still requires a correct password.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
