Build disruption via mutable CA cleanup target
Published Oct 5, 2026 · Updated Oct 5, 2026
Improper cleanup in Moby Project BuildKit 0.31.0 through 0.33.0 allows local users to disrupt builds or affect files outside a build rootfs. With proxy networking and CA injection enabled, a build step can change its CA bundle before BuildKit cleans it up, causing cleanup to use attacker-controlled filesystem state. The issue requires proxy networking for exec steps; a special file can block cleanup, and cleanup failure can leave a build reported as successful.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
