CVE-2026-93283

Invalid kernel-memory dereference via dangling I3C pointer

Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel I3C core allows attackers to cause an invalid kernel-memory dereference via unspecified vectors. The i3c_master_register_new_i3c_devs() error path calls put_device(), freeing i3c_device while desc->dev still points to it. Triggering requires I3C device discovery and a device_register() failure; the public patch establishes no attacker control or impact beyond the warning and stale-pointer dereference.
