Kernel out-of-bounds read via off-by-one length check
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the rtw89 Wi-Fi driver in Linux 6.1 allows attackers to trigger unspecified impact via a 10-byte HE element. The rtw89_mac_check_he_obss_narrow_bw_ru_iter() function accepts a 10-byte extended capability element and then reads data[10], one byte past its end. Reachability requires an rtw89 station with HE enabled on a radar channel; the public patch establishes the invalid read but documents no crash, disclosure path, or code execution.
