Kernel warning via nested AUX output contexts
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Improper Intel PT event handling in Linux allows local users to trigger a kernel warning through grouped AUX sampling. The pt_event_stop() path skips perf_aux_output_end() when throttling supplies no PERF_EF_UPDATE flag, so pt_event_start() nests another perf_aux_output_begin(). Reaching the warning requires Intel Processor Trace, a throttled grouped event, and AUX-area sampling; no data disclosure, data modification, code execution, or service interruption is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
