Probe-time crash via unchecked device-tree lookup
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux TPS6594 regulator driver allows attackers to crash affected systems via an absent buck node during probing. The tps6594_regulator_probe() multiphase loop passes an unchecked of_find_node_by_name() result to node-name and parent helpers while also retaining acquired node references. Reachability requires the TPS6594 driver and a relevant multiphase device-tree configuration, and public evidence does not establish unprivileged control of that configuration.
