Modem startup failure via regulator pointer overrun
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds array access in Linux qcom_wcnss on pronto-v3 systems causes modem startup failure on affected devices. The wcnss_init_regulators path advances the regulator-info pointer for attached power domains even though pronto-v3 lists no matching power-domain regulators, moving it beyond the vregs array. The failure is limited to Qualcomm MSM8953/SDM632 devices using pronto-v3, and it was observed with LLVM-built kernels when out-of-bounds memory supplied a zeroed regulator identifier.
