Unspecified impact via XIVE IPI use-after-free
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Use-after-free in the powerpc XIVE IPI initialization path in Linux allows attackers to cause unspecified impact via unspecified vectors. When xive_init_ipis() fails, its error path frees xive_ipis, but xive_smp_probe() ignores the error and calls xive_setup_cpu_ipi(), which dereferences that freed array. The path requires an XIVE-enabled PowerNV or pSeries system and an IPI-allocation failure; public evidence establishes invalid kernel memory access but no attacker-controlled trigger or further consequence.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
