Kernel crash via unchecked integrity metadata flags
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Improper integrity metadata handling in Linux 7.1 allows attackers to crash the kernel via unspecified vectors during block I/O. The fs-integrity path generates or verifies protection information without first checking BIP_CHECK flags, so non-PI metadata is processed incorrectly. The condition requires block-integrity I/O with generation or verification disabled; it can produce invalid metadata and crash the verification handler.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
