CVE-2026-93252

Local filesystem hang via inverted OCFS2 locks

Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026

Deadlock in Linux OCFS2 allows local users to hang filesystem operations by racing extended-attribute updates with inode creation. ocfs2_xattr_set() takes ip_xattr_sem before j_trans_barrier, while ocfs2_mknod() reaches ocfs2_init_acl() after taking the locks in the opposite order. Triggering the cycle requires write access to an OCFS2 directory and concurrent setxattr and mkdir or mknod activity; affected operations can remain blocked.
