CVE-2026-93248Hinoki check available

Kernel taint via spurious Xe timeout warning

Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026

Improper timeout handling in the Linux kernel 6.17 Xe driver causes a warning and kernel taint during teardown of an already-wedged device. In guc_exec_queue_timedout_job(), killed queues skipped guc_submit_hint_wedged(), so the handler left wedged false and misclassified an expected GSC proxy timeout. The condition requires an Xe device already wedged with GuC CT stopped, followed by driver rebind; the disclosed consequence is a warning and taint, not a crash.
