Kernel panic via unlocked Bluetooth UUID state
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel Bluetooth management subsystem allows attackers to trigger a kernel panic during discovery. Unsynchronized reads and writes of discovery.uuid_count and discovery.uuids can leave a nonzero count paired with a NULL UUID pointer, which eir_has_uuids dereferences. Reachability requires the documented race between service discovery or filter clearing and device-found processing, and the bounded consequence is a host crash.
