Guest queue resets via uninitialized APID bitmap
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Improper initialization in Linux 6.0 allows local users to reset unintended guest hardware queues during s390 AP hot-plug. In vfio_ap_mdev_hot_plug_cfg(), a control-domain-only change bypasses vfio_ap_mdev_filter_matrix(), leaving apm_filtered uninitialized before reset_queues_for_apids() consumes it. Reaching the flaw requires administrative reconfiguration of vfio-ap on an IBM Z host with AP hardware and an attached KVM guest; the bounded consequence is unintended guest queue resets.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
