Page-table corruption via unchecked physical-memory bound
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Memory-mapping bounds error in Linux allows attackers to corrupt page tables through an out-of-range ZONE_DEVICE region. On LoongArch, get_free_mem_region() and mhp_get_pluggable_range() use a compile-time fallback that can exceed the CPU-sized vmemmap window, so vmemmap_populate() wraps the mapping into low memory. The condition requires a LoongArch CPU with fewer physical-address bits than MAX_PHYSMEM_BITS and a ZONE_DEVICE allocation; observed consequences include silent corruption or a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
