Resource leak via probe failure cleanup
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Resource leak in Linux 6.15 occurs when the fsl-imx8mq USB PHY probe fails after acquiring a Type-C switch. The imx95_usb_phy_get_tca() path registers the switch but previously released it only from .remove(), which is not called after probe failure. The condition requires a failing probe on hardware using this PHY and can consume kernel resources until recovery or reboot.
