Service hang via circular configfs lock dependency
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Deadlock in affected Linux kernels allows local users to hang configfs operations while creating and removing USB gadget target groups. usbg_make_tpg() holds dep_lock while configfs_depend_item_unlocked() acquires locks that configfs_rmdir() takes in the reverse order. Triggering it requires local access to configured USB gadget target and configfs interfaces; the bounded impact is a configuration-operation hang.
