Out-of-bounds read via reversed stem-parser bounds check
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel's of_alias_scan() allows attackers to read before a Device Tree alias property name during boot. The stem parser in drivers/of/base.c evaluates isdigit() on the preceding byte before confirming that the end pointer remains above the property's start. Triggering the read requires an empty or all-digit alias property name in boot-supplied Device Tree data; no further consequence is published.
