Use-after-free via missing AUX channel cleanup
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Missing AUX cleanup in Linux 6.18 allows attackers to cause resource leaks or use-after-free via DisplayPort driver teardown. The Synopsys dw-dp bridge registers the AUX adapter in dw_dp_bind() without providing the corresponding unregister operation during cleanup. Exposure requires the affected DisplayPort driver; public records do not specify an attacker-controlled trigger or whether resulting instability causes a crash or hang.
