Resource leakage via unreleased display device-node references
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Reference leakage in Linux 6.16 Rockchip DisplayPort allows local users to retain device-node references via display enabling. The rockchip_dp_drm_encoder_enable() function calls of_get_child_by_name() for the ports node but discards the acquired reference without a matching of_node_put(). Reachability requires the affected Rockchip display path; the disclosure establishes reference leakage, not a demonstrated hang, crash, or data disclosure.
