CVE-2026-93190

Kernel memory corruption via unchecked PD capability counts

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026

Stack buffer overflow in the Linux cros_ec_typec driver allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory via a malformed EC response. cros_typec_register_partner_pdos() trusts an eight-bit capability count and uses it as the memcpy length for a seven-entry stack array, causing both an over-read and overwrite. Reachability requires compromised or noncompliant ChromeOS EC firmware; compliant firmware caps the count at seven, while exploitation can disclose or corrupt kernel memory and crash the host.
