Kernel memory corruption via unquiesced HID reports
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Use-after-free in the HID core of affected Linux kernel releases allows physically proximate attackers to corrupt memory via Bluetooth HID reports. A failed driver probe calls hid_hw_stop() without first quiescing input, so hidraw_disconnect() frees struct hidraw while hidraw_report_event() can still dereference it on another CPU. A malicious Bluetooth HID peripheral needs no Linux account or user action and can obtain kernel read/write primitives or cause a panic.
