Disclosure and GPU hang via unchecked voltage indices
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in Linux kernel SMU7 PowerPlay code allow local users to disclose kernel heap data or hang the GPU via pp_table. smu7_patch_voltage_dependency_tables_with_lookup_table uses attacker-controlled VBIOS ucVddInd and ucVddcInd bytes as indices into 16-entry voltage lookup arrays without checking their bounds. Reachability requires local write access to the SMU7 AMDGPU pp_table sysfs node; chosen indices can read kernel-heap bytes, fault the kernel, or feed garbage voltages that hang the GPU.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
