Kernel memory disclosure or crash via unchecked memcpy
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel sensorhub driver allows attackers controlling Chrome EC firmware to expose kernel memory or crash. cros_ec_sensorhub_ring_handler() trusts a sensor count obtained separately from the EC response limit, then copies the expected FIFO_INFO length after transport truncation and reads beyond resp->fifo_info. Exploitation requires compromised or malfunctioning onboard Chrome EC firmware and the Chrome EC sensorhub path; adjacent heap data can reach lost-sensor warnings, and a larger overread can cause a kernel oops.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
