Local information disclosure via incomplete RNG reads
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Information disclosure in the Xilinx TRNG driver in Linux 6.18 allows local users to read unintended data via incomplete hardware RNG reads. In drivers/char/hw_random/xilinx-trng.c, xtrng_readblock32() suppresses initial polling errors, while xtrng_collect_random_data() copies tail bytes without respecting the amount produced, leaving gaps or copying unread buffer contents. Exposure requires the Versal hardware RNG driver and a timeout or partial read; public evidence does not establish attacker control over that condition or arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
