Privilege escalation via relaxed MEM_ALLOC BTF bounds
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds memory access in Linux 6.2 through 7.2.5 allows local users with delegated BPF capabilities to read or write kernel memory. The btf_struct_walk() function applies flexible-array relaxation to MEM_ALLOC objects even though bpf_obj_new() allocates only the static BTF type size. Loading and running a crafted eBPF program requires CAP_BPF and CAP_PERFMON; approved LDX/STX instructions can leak or corrupt adjacent kernel heap objects and crash the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
