Unspecified local impact via stale register bits
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Improper register initialization in Linux 7.2 on s390 allows local users to cause unspecified impact through BPF JIT execution. In arch/s390/net/bpf_jit_comp.c, the JIT uses ly to load the 32-bit cpu_nr value into 64-bit BPF_REG_0 without clearing the register's upper bits. Reachability requires an s390 system using the affected BPF JIT path; the Linux CVE team has not published the resulting failure mode.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
