Power-management disruption via unbalanced resume reference
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Reference leak in the IPU7 driver in Linux 6.17 allows local users to disrupt device power management via failed resume operations. In drivers/staging/media/ipu7/ipu7.c, ipu7_resume() calls pm_runtime_get_sync() but returns on failure without undoing the usage-count increment. Exposure requires an active IPU7 device and a runtime-PM resume failure; the leaked usage count prevents runtime suspension.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
