CVE-2026-93140Hinoki check available

Kernel warning via stale LVID buffer flag

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026

Buffer-state mishandling in Linux UDF allows local users to trigger a kernel warning via synchronization after a write I/O error. In fs/udf/super.c, udf_open_lvid() and udf_sync_fs() dirty valid Logical Volume Integrity Descriptor data without restoring BH_Uptodate after the write-completion handler clears it. The condition requires a failed descriptor write followed by synchronization or a read-write remount; the upstream disclosure documents a spurious warning, not a crash or data compromise.
