CVE-2026-93116Hinoki check available

Local kernel compromise via probe-failure use-after-free

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026

Use-after-free in the ASUS WMI driver in Linux 5.17 through 7.2.5 allows local users to compromise the kernel after probe failure. Misordered error labels in asus_wmi_add() skip cleanup for registered rfkill, backlight, input, and sysfs objects before freeing their backing asus_wmi structure. Reachability requires a non-ENODEV ScreenPad initialization failure that local users cannot induce and access to /dev/rfkill; a later operation can read or write freed kernel memory or crash the host.
