Invalid callback execution via undrained RCU callbacks
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Linux 5.6 RDMA/mlx5 teardown races allow attackers to trigger invalid callback execution when the mlx5_ib module unloads. The cleanup paths in drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/main.c fail to drain queued devx_free_subscription() RCU callbacks before module code disappears, including during registration-error unwinding. Exposure requires the affected driver and teardown with pending callbacks; the public sources do not establish attacker privileges, a specific crash outcome, or arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
