CVE-2026-93106Hinoki check available

Memory corruption via repeated keyring reference release

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux 6.16 crash-dump key restoration allows local users to corrupt memory via repeated keyring release. In kernel/crash_dump_dm_crypt.c, restore_dm_crypt_keys_to_thread_keyring() passes one acquired reference to add_key_to_keyring(), which incorrectly releases it for each restored key. The local configfs restoration path requires privileged access and saved dm-crypt keys; restoring more than five keys triggers a refcount/use-after-free warning, without a demonstrated code-execution outcome.
