Kernel memory leakage via incomplete probe cleanup
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Memory leakage in Linux RDMA/hfi1 allows local users to consume kernel memory via late device-initialization failures. In init_one(), failures after hfi1_init_dd() allocates RX support bypass hfi1_free_rx(), leaking netdev_rx and its dummy netdev. The affected driver must encounter a later initialization or registration failure; no attacker-controlled trigger or resulting crash is documented.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
