Service disruption via SCMI teardown iterator invalidation

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026

Iterator invalidation in Linux SCMI channel cleanup allows local users to disrupt kernel operation during transport teardown. In scmi_cleanup_channels(), the destruction callback removes entries from the IDR that idr_for_each() is still traversing, invalidating its iterator state. SUSE assesses exploitation as requiring high local privileges; the public description does not specify a crash, hang, or attacker-controlled input.
