Memory corruption via unchecked AUX read length
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Buffer overflow in the tc358767 driver in Linux 5.4 allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory via an oversized AUX byte count. tc_aux_transfer() substitutes the controller's AUX_BYTES count for the bounded request length, causing tc_aux_read_data() to overrun its 16-byte stack buffer and the caller buffer. Triggering requires an excessive controller-reported count on affected hardware; upstream describes defensive hardening and does not establish attacker control or a working exploit.
