CVE-2026-93055

Out-of-bounds read via truncated symlink headers

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026

An out-of-bounds read in Linux UDF symlink parsing allows local users to trigger invalid kernel reads via malformed filesystem data. In fs/udf/symlink.c, udf_pc_to_char() accesses a pathComponent header without checking that the remaining input contains the complete header. Reachability requires processing the malformed UDF symlink; the disclosure does not establish an attacker-visible data leak or a specific crash outcome.
