CVE-2026-93050Hinoki check available

Kernel crash via stale tty references

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026

Memory-safety errors in Linux's ipoctal driver allow local users to crash the kernel through tty operations during device removal. The remove callback frees ipoctal and its transmit buffer while tty references remain active, and ipoctal_cleanup() dereferences an already freed device. An active ipoctal tty session must overlap device removal; subsequent writes, cleanup, or hardware access trigger invalid memory accesses and kernel faults.
