Out-of-bounds read via wrapped index bounds check
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in the Linux kernel allows local users to read beyond a software-node property array through a crafted index. In software_node_get_reference_args(), adding one to UINT_MAX wraps before the length comparison, so the check accepts an invalid array index. The published assessment requires local low-privilege access, but the record does not establish whether the read discloses data, crashes the system, or has another effect.
