Kernel crash via unsupported BPF interpreter instructions
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Linux 6.9 BPF denial of service allows local users to trigger a kernel crash through unsupported arena instructions. __bpf_prog_select_runtime() permits interpreter fallback for arena ST/LDX/STX instructions, which reach BUG_ON() in ___bpf_prog_run(). Triggering requires execution of an arena-using BPF program through that fallback; the documented result is a kernel oops, not data disclosure or privilege escalation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
