Heap-memory disclosure via unchecked palette indexes
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Information disclosure in Tony Cook Imager before 1.036 allows attackers to read process heap memory through a crafted paletted image. In palimg.c, i_gpix_p accepts an index equal to the populated palette count, while i_glin_p leaves rejected pixels unwritten in an uninitialized row buffer. Exploitation requires an application to read an attacker-supplied image and then fetch its pixels or convert it to RGB, exposing prior heap contents.
