Secret disclosure via overprivileged gather service account
Published Oct 8, 2026 · Updated Oct 8, 2026
Excessive RBAC permissions in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4 allow remote authenticated users to read secrets via the gather account. The insights-operator-gather ClusterRole grants get and list on all secrets, and its ClusterRoleBinding assigns those permissions to gather in openshift-insights. Exploitation requires creating a pod using that account in its namespace or otherwise obtaining its credentials; the demonstrated permission exposes secrets across all namespaces.
