Command execution via shell-interpreted envelope addresses
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
OS command injection in Email::Sender before 2.602 allows attackers to execute commands on Windows via crafted envelope addresses. The Sendmail transport's _sendmail_pipe builds one command string from sender and recipient addresses and passes it through the Windows shell. An application must send mail with an attacker-controlled envelope or To, Cc, or From header; commands run with the sending process's privileges.
