Remote service crash via nil Cause dereference
Published May 23, 2026 · Updated May 23, 2026
Nil-pointer dereference in the NGReset handler in Aether SD-Core Project AMF 2.1.0 through 2.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to crash AMF. The handler passes a missing or malformed NGAP Cause value to printAndGetCause, which dereferences a nil pointer and triggers a Go panic. An established NGAP connection with low privileges is sufficient; one crafted message terminates the serving process and interrupts 5G control-plane service.
