Account hijacking via query-string session fixation
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Session fixation in HUBzero CMS 2.2.32 and earlier allows remote attackers to hijack user accounts through crafted session identifiers. Hubzero\Session\Manager accepts PHPSESSID from the query string or any request variable when no session cookie exists, then continues using that server-known identifier. A victim must follow the crafted link and authenticate under the fixed session before the attacker can replay the identifier and access that account.
