Sandbox-internal disclosure via exposed global state
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Information disclosure in Patrik Simek vm2 before 3.11.2 allows remote attackers to retrieve sensitive sandbox internals. The VM sandbox leaves VM2_INTERNAL_STATE_DO_NOT_USE_OR_PROGRAM_WILL_FAIL reachable through globalThis instead of withholding the private state object from guest code. Exploitation requires an application to execute attacker-controlled JavaScript in vm2, and the documented consequence is disclosure rather than host data modification or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
