Host memory exhaustion via uncapped V8 constructors
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Denial of service in Patrik Simek vm2 before 3.11.6 allows remote attackers to exhaust host memory via sandboxed JavaScript. The bufferAllocLimit check wraps Buffer allocation APIs but not ArrayBuffer, SharedArrayBuffer, or TypedArray constructors, which invoke the same synchronous V8 backing-store allocator without the configured cap. Exploitation requires an application to run attacker-controlled code inside vm2; one oversized allocation can terminate the host process under an out-of-memory condition.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
