Host code execution via raw WebAssembly Promise rejection
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Sandbox escape in Patrik Simek vm2 3.10.1 through 3.11.6 allows attackers to gain host Node.js capabilities from a default VM. WebAssembly.compileStreaming or instantiateStreaming can reject through a raw host-realm Promise, and attacker-controlled Symbol.species behavior in Promise.prototype.finally exposes the host error constructor and then the host Function constructor. The path requires Node.js 26 but no NodeVM, require permission, host-object injection, or nondefault configuration; recovered process access permits host module and filesystem operations in the sandboxed process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
