Host-object modification via exposed accessor setters
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Sandbox protection bypass in Patrik Simek vm2 3.9.6 through 3.11.6 allows remote attackers to modify frozen host-object state. Descriptor APIs expose a host setter, and BaseHandler.apply unwraps the read-only proxy before invoking that setter on the raw object. Reachability requires attacker-controlled JavaScript and an exposed host object with an own accessor property; impact is limited to that object's embedder-defined state.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
