Native code execution via SQLite extension loading
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Protection mechanism failure in vm2 3.11.3 through 3.11.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute native code via NodeVM. NodeVM's resolver accepts node:node:sqlite for an allowed node:sqlite builtin, and vm.readonly() leaves DatabaseSync.loadExtension() callable with host authority. Reachability requires a supplied plugin containing a compatible native library and a NodeVM configuration allowing node:sqlite or all builtins; the library runs with host-process privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
