Host call-stack disclosure via unfiltered utility module
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Information disclosure in vm2 3.11.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to read host call-stack details through sandboxed code. NodeVM's defaultBuiltinLoaderUtil shallow-copies the host util module without filtering getCallSites, while sys follows the generic loader. Exploitation requires Node.js 22.9 or later and a NodeVM configuration permitting util, sys, or wildcard built-ins; disclosure is limited to paths, function names, and line data.
