Administrator takeover via forgeable offline unlock codes
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Weak password recovery in OpenEye Apex Network Video Recorder 3.2.9.376 allows physically proximate attackers to reset the administrator password. The privileged console workflow validates an unlock code derived without a per-device secret or other server-held cryptographic material, so the code can be forged offline. Physical-console access and entry into that workflow are required; a successful reset grants administrative control of the recorder.
